The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed that African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, sustained injuries during a confrontation with some individuals at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, October 30, 2026.
The incident occurred around the Dalimore area of the state capital, following which police operatives were alerted and moved to the scene to rescue the politician. He was subsequently taken to the Police Hospital in Ado-Ekiti, where he is receiving medical attention for what the police described as minor injuries.
The development followed a post on Sowore’s X account alleging that armed, government-sponsored thugs had attacked him and his team, claiming that his whereabouts were unknown. He also accused operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) of providing the alleged attackers with their location.
However, the police, through their spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, dismissed reports that Sowore had been kidnapped, insisting that preliminary findings indicated an altercation at the restaurant.
The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a discreet investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify those involved and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The command urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic and tension. It also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, regardless of political affiliation or social status.
