Nigeria is among the African countries that will participate in the voting process for the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards.
The country’s inclusion follows its position in the FIFA men’s world rankings, which determined the 100 nations eligible to provide journalists for the men’s Ballon d’Or jury.
The voting panel comprises football journalists from the selected countries. Each representative will assess the 30 players shortlisted for the award and select their top 10 based on their performances during the 2025–26 season.
Points will be allocated according to the position given to each player, with the highest-ranked selection receiving the most points.
Nigeria is one of 20 African countries included in this year’s voting panel, alongside nations such as Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Cameroon and South Africa.
Nigerian journalist Samm Audu of Score Nigeria has been identified as the country’s representative on the jury.
The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on October 26, where the winners of the prestigious football awards will be announced.
