… Initiative Provides Digital Equipment, Assistive Devices and Vocational Tools to Schools Across Lagos
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational development and inclusion following a surprise visit to schools benefiting from the COWLSO School Committee Project 4.0 at Lagos House, Ikeja, on Friday.
The Governor interacted with students and examined various educational and vocational resources provided to beneficiary schools under the initiative. He was accompanied by his wife and Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; the Project Committee Chairman, Mrs. Anike Adekanye; and other Committee members.
The donated resources include laptops, interactive boards, smart televisions, generators, refrigerators, wheelchairs, Braille machines and sewing machines, all intended to strengthen classroom learning, improve accessibility and promote practical skills development.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed delight at the students’ abilities and commended COWLSO for supporting his administration’s THEMES Plus Development Agenda, particularly in education, technological advancement and inclusive development.
Speaking during the event, the First Lady explained that the intervention was established to complement the state government’s educational efforts by equipping schools with essential learning materials and creating better opportunities for students to acquire relevant knowledge and vocational skills.
She disclosed that the project’s final phase covered schools in the Lagos and Badagry divisions, completing its planned implementation across the five IBILE divisions of Lagos State.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the importance of providing adequate learning resources for children with special educational needs, noting that institutions serving students with visual impairments and other additional learning requirements received particular attention.
She called on school administrators to ensure the proper care and effective use of the donated equipment to enhance classroom activities, encourage innovation and improve students’ skills.
In her remarks, Mrs. Anike Adekanye reiterated COWLSO’s dedication to improving educational opportunities through targeted interventions that address the specific needs of schools and their students. She commended the First Lady for her leadership and sustained commitment to advancing education, especially for children with special needs.
Mrs. Adekanye further encouraged beneficiary schools to maximise the use of the resources provided to ensure long-term benefits for students and their respective communities.
The COWLSO School Committee Project 4.0 demonstrates the Committee’s continued partnership with the Lagos State Government in strengthening education, expanding access to quality learning resources and promoting an inclusive educational system where every child has the opportunity to learn, develop and succeed.
