The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has debunked reports of a fresh building collapse in the Alakija area of Lagos, describing the information as false.
In a statement signed by the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA said it immediately deployed emergency personnel to the reported location after receiving the alert. However, a thorough assessment of the area found no evidence of any second building collapse.
The agency urged residents to verify information before sharing it, warning that false emergency reports divert vital resources, disrupt operations and could delay responses to genuine life-threatening incidents.
LASEMA commended Lagos residents for remaining vigilant and encouraged the public to continue reporting emergencies through the appropriate channels while allowing first responders to confirm incidents before they are widely circulated.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to protecting lives and property through prompt, coordinated and professional emergency response
