The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has alerted motorists to expected traffic disruptions as the Federal Ministry of Works begins the replacement of the expansion joint at Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The repair work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, and will last for two weeks. During the period, the existing four-lane carriageway will be temporarily reduced to two lanes over a 1.5-kilometre stretch to create a safe work zone.
The Ministry said motorists should expect moderate traffic around the Fatgbems Turn, as some road users make U-turns or seek alternative routes to avoid delays. However, traffic heading towards Ibadan beyond the Fatgbems Turn is expected to flow with minimal disruption.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead, consider alternative routes where possible, obey traffic regulations, and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor.
The Ministry expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and cooperation, noting that the rehabilitation work is aimed at improving the safety and durability of Kara Bridge for all road users.
