The Oyo State Police Command has brokered peace between the family, wife and associates of late gospel singer, Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, following disagreements over his burial arrangements.
The intervention followed allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character and actions capable of causing a breach of public peace. The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reportedly received information about the dispute on October 28, 2026, and subsequently invited the concerned parties to the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, to prevent further escalation.
At the meeting held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the singer’s wife, Mrs Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Mr Muniru Olayemi; and his friends and associates, including Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Lawal Ademola Rafiu, alongside his personal assistant and other representatives, signed a peace undertaking before the Commissioner of Police.
Under the agreement, all parties committed to maintaining peace, exhibiting good behaviour and refraining from actions capable of escalating tensions. They also agreed to discontinue public exchanges, interviews and discussions concerning the disagreement.
The undertaking further prohibits the parties and their representatives from circulating allegations, narratives or publications relating to the matter through social media, blogs, print media, radio and other communication platforms. They also agreed not to grant interviews or facilitate media engagements capable of reigniting the controversy.
The Commissioner of Police warned that the agreement must be respected by everyone involved, including their agents, associates and representatives. He cautioned against using the singer’s death to promote hostility or spread unsubstantiated allegations, adding that anyone found committing an offence would be arrested and prosecuted.
The Command also appealed to members of the public, bloggers and media practitioners to exercise restraint and avoid spreading unverified information capable of reopening the dispute.
The controversy reportedly centred on where the late singer should be laid to rest, with his father proposing burial at the house he built in Ibadan or beside his late mother in Ikirun, Osun State, while disagreements reportedly emerged over the preferred burial arrangement.
Toluwanisings died on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping at his residence in Ibadan. His death also generated public controversy following allegations that several hospitals turned him away while efforts were being made to obtain emergency medical attention.
