The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has arrested a resident of Meiran, Lagos State, for allegedly dumping refuse into a drainage channel during rainfall, as the state intensifies its crackdown on indiscriminate waste disposal. The suspect, identified as a resident of No. 13, Lanre Adefiranye Street, Baale Bus Stop, Meiran, was apprehended by a joint enforcement team comprising the LAWMA Enforcement Team, Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) and mobile police officers attached to the operation. One person has been confirmed dead while two others were rescued after a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition collapsed at No. 42, Governors Road, Aboru, in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 10, 2026, during demolition work. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said its Alpha Eagle Response Team was dispatched from the Cappa, Oshodi Response Unit at about 12:56 a.m. following a distress call.
