The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, has successfully hosted the Youth and Governance Symposium (Assembly Edition 2.0) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). Themed “Building the Future of Governance Through Youth Participation,”
The event served as a vital platform to inspire and empower young people to actively engage in leadership, policymaking, and civic duties.
The high-profile gathering brought together prominent figures, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, and the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, alongside numerous young leaders and youth advocates from across the state. A major highlight of the symposium was the official unveiling of the NYCN Lagos Ward Champions, a strategic initiative aimed at deepening youth-led development and grassroots mobilization.
Underscoring the importance of the event, Commissioner Ogunlende personally conducted a venue inspection the day prior to ensure every detail was in place for a successful and impactful convening.
Ultimately, the symposium reinforced NYCN’s commitment to reshaping the political landscape of Lagos, transitioning young people from onlookers into active architects of public policy and inclusive governance.
