The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has unveiled a strategic roadmap to modernise its operations, expand financial inclusion, and support the Federal Government’s food security drive.
As part of the plan, Managing Director Ayodeji Sotinrin announced partnerships with state platforms, input suppliers, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), alongside a new MoU to attract climate finance and support the Presidential One Million Hectare Tree Crop Initiative aimed at creating jobs and boosting exports.
The bank will prioritise young farmers in rural communities while introducing stricter verification measures, including BVN checks, KYC compliance, and GPS farm mapping, to eliminate fraudulent beneficiaries and ensure loans reach genuine farmers. The move was welcomed by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, which also urged faster loan disbursement to align with planting seasons.
BOA is also digitising its 110 branches with solar-powered infrastructure, agency banking, and digital farmer systems, while strengthening collaboration with cooperatives and other stakeholders to drive the National Agri-food System Investment Plan
