…Operation recovers arms and ammunition, neutralises four suspected criminals
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Police and other security agencies for the ongoing massive crackdown on criminal elements across Lagos and Ogun States, describing the coordinated security operation, Operation Kosaye, as a major step in strengthening public safety.
The operation has recorded significant successes, including the arrest of 88 suspects, the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition, and the neutralisation of four suspected criminals during a gun duel with security operatives.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
“We will continue to work with the Police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” the Governor said.
He also praised the efforts of the Police, noting that the success of the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of inter-state collaboration in tackling crime.
“We appreciate the huge efforts of the Police as directed by the Inspector-General of Police in arresting the suspects and the cooperation of our neighbours in Ogun State. This is the way it should be,” he added
Residents of Lagos and Ogun States have witnessed increased police visibility in recent days, with the Police Commands in both states displaying recovered weapons and parading suspects, sending a clear message that criminal elements will find no safe haven in either state.
Operation Kosaye, meaning “No Space for Criminals,” is a coordinated security initiative aimed at dismantling kidnapping syndicates, armed robbery gangs and other violent criminal networks operating across the Southwest.
As part of the operation, security operatives are combing forest areas along the J3/J4 axis of Ogbere on the Lagos-Ogun boundary to flush out fleeing criminal suspects and dismantle their hideouts.
The Police reiterated their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations to ensure there is no hiding place for kidnappers and other criminal elements.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on criminal hideouts
“We will do our best to ensure that our law enforcement agencies are well motivated through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF),” the Governor said
