The Lagos State Government has officially launched the second cohort of the Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP) at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, reaffirming its commitment to building a high-performing, innovative and citizen-focused public service.
The programme, themed “Embedding Excellence: Leadership for Sustainable Public Service,” brought together public sector leaders and stakeholders to deepen leadership capacity, strengthen institutional excellence and equip emerging leaders with the competencies required to drive sustainable development across the Lagos State Public Service.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Dr. (Mrs.) Olubusola A. Abidakun, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continuous leadership development and capacity building for public servants.
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Establishments and Training, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Atanda Rufai, presented an overview of the Public Service Accelerator Programme and highlighted the achievements recorded by the inaugural cohort. Also speaking, Mr. Jibola Allison, President of the PSAP Alumni Network, reflected on the successes of the first cohort and encouraged participants to maximise the opportunity for learning, networking and professional growth.
The Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Hon. Afolabi Ayantayo, urged participants to take full advantage of the programme, stressing that the knowledge, leadership skills and exposure gained would position them as transformational leaders capable of delivering exceptional service to the people of Lagos State.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Chairman, House Committee on Establishments, Training, Pensions and Public Service, Hon. Oladele Ajayi, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Regional Development Programmes, Dr. Mariam Masha. Both speakers commended the Lagos State Government for prioritising leadership development and encouraged participants to embrace innovation, excellence and continuous self-improvement.
Delivering the theme address, Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye, Commissioner II, Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, emphasised the importance of embedding excellence, accountability and innovation into the culture of the public service as critical drivers of sustainable governance and improved service delivery.
Declaring the programme open on behalf of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, charged participants to embrace collaboration, continuous learning and a culture of excellence. He noted that true leadership is measured by impact rather than position and expressed confidence that the programme would nurture visionary leaders committed to transforming the Lagos State Public Service.
The Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP) is a flagship leadership development initiative of the Lagos State Government designed for officers on Grade Levels 12 to 14. The programme equips emerging public sector leaders with the knowledge, skills and mindset required to drive innovation, institutional excellence and sustainable public service delivery.
