Etihad Airways is set to resume operations between Abu Dhabi and Lagos from March 18, 2027, as Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates deepen cooperation in the Aviation sector.
The development followed an official visit by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to Abu Dhabi, where he held discussions with senior officials of Etihad Airways on the airline’s planned return to Nigeria.
During the visit, Festus Keyamo toured Etihad Aviation training and Zayed International airport, examining and discussing explored broader areas of collaboration, including aviation training, technology, cargo operations, to explore opportunities and other ideas from Abu Dhabi world class aviation eco system.
The planned return of Etihad’s Lagos service is expected to strengthen air connectivity between Nigeria and the UAE while supporting tourism, trade and investment between both countries.
The development also follows an interline agreement signed between Etihad Airways and Air Peace in July. The agreement gives Etihad passengers access to 20 destinations across Nigeria, West and Central Africa through Air Peace’s network.
The partnership is expected to enhance collaboration and also foster deeper cooperation between both parties.
