The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, at its retail stations in Abuja and surrounding areas.
A market survey conducted on Tuesday showed that NNPCL filling stations were dispensing petrol at N1,270 per litre, representing a N20 increase from the previous price of N1,250 per litre.
The latest adjustment comes despite efforts by the Dangote Refinery to ease the cost of petrol through its free fuel delivery initiative to selected locations across the country.
The refinery recently expanded the programme to cover 10 destinations, including Abuja, with its petrol reportedly priced at N1,185 per litre under the initiative.
The development means motorists purchasing fuel from NNPCL outlets in Abuja will now pay more for the product, even as the domestic refinery continues to expand measures aimed at improving fuel distribution and reducing transportation-related costs.
The NNPCL price adjustment also comes amid declining global crude oil prices, a development that has continued to influence discussions around domestic fuel pricing and affordability.
