OPay has dismissed a viral message circulating on social media claiming that the fintech company would suspend its operations from September 1, 2026.
The message, presented as an official communication from OPay Digital Services Limited, reportedly told customers that the company would embark on an indefinite break and stop processing transactions and account related services until further notice, creating panick in customers.
It also advised users to withdraw their funds as soon as possible, a claim that sparked concern among some customers.
Reacting to the rumor, OPay, on its verified X account rejected the message, describing it as false.
The fintech company said it has no plans to suspend its operations in September, assuring customers that it remains fully operational. “OPay is not going on break by September. We are here, and we are going nowhere,” the company said.
OPay also urged customers to be cautious of unverified information and encouraged them to confirm major announcements through its official communication channels before sharing or acting on them.
