The Nigeria Police Force has introduced a new digital platform aimed at making it easier for members of the public to report fraud and provide evidence without having to visit a police station.
The initiative, launched by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is known as the NPFVigilant App. The platform is designed to give Nigerians a more convenient channel for reporting fraudulent activities and submitting relevant evidence electronically.
Beyond making complaints online, users of the application can also monitor the progress of their cases and receive updates on efforts being made to recover funds allegedly lost through fraudulent activities.
The new platform represents part of the Nigeria Police Force’s broader effort to incorporate technology into its policing operations and improve access to police services. It is also expected to reduce some of the difficulties members of the public encounter when attempting to report financial crimes through conventional channels.
With the introduction of the NPFVigilant App, Nigerians can now begin the process of reporting fraud remotely, providing authorities with information and evidence needed to commence investigations.
The development further highlights the police leadership’s push towards a more technology-driven approach to crime reporting and public engagement.
