With just one day to the 2026 Lagos State Food Safety Conference and Exhibition, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has called on Lagosians, consumers, food industry operators and other stakeholders to participate in the fourth edition of the landmark event.
The conference is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at NECA House, Alausa-Ikeja, with the theme, “From Burden to Solutions – Safe Food Everywhere.”
The event will bring together experts, industry leaders, researchers, regulators and consumers to examine pressing food safety challenges and develop practical solutions for a safer food system in Lagos State.
The General Manager/CEO of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo Esq., described the conference as an important platform for increasing public awareness, strengthening food safety practices, protecting consumer rights and promoting collaboration among stakeholders. He urged Lagosians to attend, noting that access to safe food is fundamental to public health and consumer welfare.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Adeniyi Adedayo Odugbemi, Global Director of Quality and Food Safety at Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), United States, while Dr. Nurah T. Oseni, food and cosmetics scientist, researcher and lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, will serve as Guest Speaker.
The panel session will be moderated by Mr. Rasaq Oke, a food scientist, entrepreneur and industry expert with over 20 years’ experience across the food, beverage, agro-allied and food tourism sectors. Panellists include Mrs. Kikelomo Amoreoluwa, food scientist and agro-processing entrepreneur; Mr. Akinyele Ogunji, Principal Research Officer at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO); and Mrs. Moyosore Onalaja, a technical product innovation, quality and regulatory leader with over 20 years’ FMCG and food industry experience.
The conference will also feature an exhibition of goods, products and services, providing participants with opportunities to explore innovations and engage with businesses and professionals.
Solebo stressed that the event is not restricted to food industry professionals, urging every consumer to participate in discussions that affect the safety and quality of food consumed daily.
He reaffirmed LASCOPA’s commitment to informing, protecting and empowering consumers and encouraged the public to send food safety and consumer protection suggestions to lascopapau@gmail.com, while complaints and grievances can be submitted to lasgcopa@gmail.com.
The conference will also be live-streamed on the Lagos State Government and/or LASCOPA social media platforms.
Solebo urged stakeholders to use the conference to move beyond identifying food safety challenges to developing and implementing practical solutions that will deliver “Safe Food Everywhere” in Lagos State.
