….Faith Leaders, Political Stakeholders Seek Peace, Progress and Prosperity
Members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, converged at Onikan, Lagos, for an interfaith prayer session in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Princess Damilola Senayon-James ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The gathering brought together APC leaders and members, religious leaders, traditionalists and other political stakeholders to pray for the leaders, peaceful elections and the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat; and Princess Damilola Senayon-James, alongside other APC leaders and stakeholders.

Prayers were offered by Islamic clerics, Christian leaders and traditionalists, reflecting the coming together of different faiths and traditions to seek peace, progress and prosperity for the state and country.
Speaking at the gathering, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Director-General of the Lagos State Governorship Campaign Council, emphasised the importance of securing a better future for Lagos, noting that the progress and development of the state remain significant to the overall growth of Nigeria.
Obanikoro expressed optimism about the future and wished the next administration success.
In his goodwill message, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat called on APC members to remain united and committed to the collective vision of building a better and more progressive Lagos.
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu also expressed appreciation to APC leaders, members and Lagosians for their support throughout his administration, while calling for continued unity and collective commitment towards sustaining the progress and development of Lagos State.
The Lagos Interfaith Prayer Session underscored the role of faith and unity in fostering collective aspirations, as APC members, political stakeholders and religious leaders joined in prayers for the success of the political leaders, peaceful elections and the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria
