Itel has warned that it may take legal action against individuals who use artificial intelligence generated images and other fabricated content to spread false information about its products.
The warning followed the circulation of an AI-generated image by an X user, that allegedly showed an itel Power Tank exploding, with claims that the incident was caused by overcharging.
In an official disclaimer posted on X, the company said it welcomes constructive criticism and genuine customer feedback but would not tolerate the deliberate use of misleading content to damage its reputation or misrepresent its products.
itel further stated that deliberate attempts to misrepresent the company through fabricated or manipulated materials and false claims would attract appropriate legal action, adding that it would pursue available legal remedies where necessary to protect its brand and customers.
itel has urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it and to direct complaints or concerns through the company’s official channels.
