Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has pledged continued government support for the creative industry through expanded skills development, training opportunities and investment in infrastructure to strengthen the sector.
Hamzat made the commitment on Tuesday at the official commissioning and grand opening of Euphoria360 Hub, established by filmmaker and thespian Mr. Femi Adebayo in Oregun, Lagos.
The Deputy Governor said Lagos has abundant creative talent but needs the right structures and opportunities to transform that potential into sustainable careers. He disclosed that the State Government is already investing in creative infrastructure, including the development of theatres in Ikorodu, Badagry and other divisions of the State.
He added that the government is exploring further training opportunities in filmmaking, acting, photography and other creative disciplines, as part of a broader plan to train up to one million Lagosians across various fields.
According to Hamzat, the government’s goal goes beyond training young people. He said Lagos wants to build a sustainable pipeline of globally competitive creative professionals and connect skills development directly to employment and economic opportunities.
He noted that Nigeria’s film industry and storytelling have become powerful tools for projecting the country’s identity and culture across Africa and the world. Hamzat therefore challenged creative-industry stakeholders to work with government to address barriers affecting the sector, particularly intellectual property, contracts and skills development.
Hamzat congratulated Femi Adebayo on the establishment of the Mega Audio Visual Project, describing Euphoria360 Hub as an important contribution to the growth of Lagos’ creative ecosystem.
In his goodwill message, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Mr. Sunday Dare, described Nigeria’s entertainment industry as a major force in enhancing the country’s visibility and global influence. He stressed the need for stronger government support, noting that the sector generates significant revenue and has the capacity to create employment opportunities for many young Nigerians.
Earlier, Femi Adebayo explained that Euphoria360 Hub was established as a one-stop destination for the entertainment industry, providing producers, filmmakers, creators, film enthusiasts and event planners with quality facilities and professional services needed to bring their projects to life.
Adebayo said the hub brings together key players across the entertainment value chain while providing access to modern facilities and professional services for the development and delivery of world-class productions.
He described the initiative as a destination designed to promote creativity, collaboration and excellence within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
