The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has enrolled 2,546 residents of Agboyi Ori-Omi under the EKO Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) Rural Health Scheme, with 791 beneficiaries accessing free healthcare services between January and September 2026.
The Permanent Secretary, LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, disclosed this at a Townhall Meeting on the Rural Health Scheme in Agboyi Ori-Omi, Lagos.
According to Zamba, the Scheme was established to bridge healthcare access gaps in underserved and hard-to-reach communities without functional Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
She revealed that 276 beneficiaries were referred to Mascara PHC, Ketu and Gbagada General Hospital, with transportation costs fully covered for referral and emergency cases.
Of the 791 residents who received care, 251 were treated for urinary tract infections and general body pains, 144 for elevated blood pressure, while 63 were treated for diabetes.
Zamba added that beneficiaries living with hypertension and diabetes have been placed on routine medication and are being monitored.
The LASHMA boss also disclosed that Agboyi Ori-Omi is one of the locations where the State Government is piloting the Rural Health Scheme, alongside Erikiti-Oglo in Badagry, while the third location in Ikorodu Division is at an advanced stage.
The Townhall provided an opportunity for beneficiaries and community stakeholders to share their experiences and provide feedback on the impact of the healthcare intervention.
The meeting was attended by the 4th Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba (Engr.) Monsuru Abimbola Adekanbi Oladega, his Chiefs, the Permanent Secretary, Health District II, Dr. Adenike Oluwo, and the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar.
