A fresh batch of 282 stranded Nigerians has arrived safely in Lagos from South Africa aboard an Air Peace flight, marking the fifth phase of the Federal Government’s voluntary evacuation programme. The returnees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Temitope Alexander-Ajayi, and NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for facilitating their return.
To support their reintegration, the returnees will benefit from financial assistance, temporary accommodation, skills acquisition programmes, educational support, and other empowerment initiatives provided by the Imo, Edo, and Delta State Governments, MTN Nigeria, the JAAL Foundation, Omega Power Ministries, Harvesters Church, and Cruxstone.
The evacuation effort is being coordinated by NiDCOM, NEMA, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, FAAN, Air Peace, ValueJet, and other relevant agencies to ensure the safe return and successful reintegration of willing Nigerians from South Africa.
