The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has expanded its waste evacuation capacity with the deployment of 10 new compactor trucks, aimed at improving refuse collection and operational efficiency across Lagos State.
Speaking during the deployment, LAWMA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, thanked the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) for donating the trucks. He described the gesture as a strong example of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving public service through collaboration between government agencies.
Gbadegesin said the additional trucks would strengthen LAWMA’s fleet, enhance waste collection operations, and support efforts to keep Lagos cleaner as the state’s population continues to grow. He stressed that sustainable waste management depends on continuous investment in modern equipment, innovation, and strategic partnerships.
He added that the new compactors have been deployed to key operational areas across the state to improve the efficiency of waste evacuation. He also assured residents that LAWMA would continue to optimise its resources, intensify enforcement, and promote community participation in maintaining a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
The LAWMA boss further called on public institutions and private organisations to support environmental sustainability by partnering with the agency to strengthen waste management infrastructure and improve service delivery across the state.
