Hospitals refusing to treat their father: Nollywood actor Ogogo’s daughters cry out over stage-four cancer, as Lima and Kira Taiwo have appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
The sisters made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, revealing that the 66-year-old actor is battling stage-four cancer and that hospitals have reportedly refused to continue his treatment.
Lima, speaking through tears, said her father’s condition had deteriorated and appealed to Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals who could help find a hospital or healthcare provider willing to treat him.
She stressed that the family was not soliciting money, but urgently seeking medical intervention that could give their father another chance.
According to Lima, the family only discovered the seriousness of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago, despite the fact that his outward appearance did not initially suggest that he was seriously ill.
She pleaded with anyone who knew a doctor, hospital or medical professional experienced in cancer treatment to come forward. Lima also acknowledged the support of a relative, whom she described as her “big uncle,” saying he had been of great help to the family during the difficult period.
In a separate Instagram video, Kira confirmed that her father’s cancer was at stage four, saying the hospital had told the family that it could no longer administer chemotherapy.
Kira appealed to anyone who could provide cancer treatment for Ogogo, including chemotherapy or other appropriate medical care, to contact her, her sister or the actor.
She also expressed appreciation to Senator Yayi, whom she said had been supporting the family and footing her father’s medical bills.
Both sisters became emotional while discussing their father’s condition. Kira said she had never seen Ogogo in such pain and revealed that he had expressed his fear of dying.
The daughters repeatedly emphasised that their appeal was not for financial donations, but for medical help from anyone with the expertise or access to a facility capable of treating their father.
Taiwo Hassan, 66, is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades. He has featured in more than 300 movies and remains one of the most recognisable faces in Yoruba cinema.
As of the time of filing this report, Ogogo’s management and family had yet to issue an official statement providing details about the specific hospital, exact diagnosis or type of cancer involved.
