The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the sale of application forms for intending pilgrims seeking to participate in the 2027/1448 A.H. Hajj and Ramadan Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Announcing the development on Monday, the Board Secretary, Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, urged prospective pilgrims to register early and begin payment of the required fares in line with the timetable issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi Arabian authorities.
According to him, Hajj application forms are available for ₦20,000, while Ramadan Umrah forms cost ₦10,000, with payments to be made at the Board’s Accounts Department.
Intending Hajj pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of ₦7 million through a bank draft payable to the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. The deadline for the initial deposit is September 2026, while the final Hajj fare will be announced after approval by NAHCON.
For the Ramadan Umrah exercise, applicants are expected to pay an initial deposit of ₦5.7 million through a bank draft. The Board also advised all intending pilgrims to obtain official receipts for every payment made.
Ajomagberin explained that the early registration exercise is intended to give NAHCON and state authorities ample time to complete visa processing, accommodation reservations, flight arrangements, and other logistics required for a seamless pilgrimage.
He noted that the pilgrimage packages have been carefully designed to ensure comfort and convenience, featuring accommodation within walking distance of the Holy Haram, reliable transportation, daily breakfast and dinner, medical support, spiritual counselling, and organised visits to historic Islamic sites in Makkah and Madinah.
The Board Secretary further announced that enrollment in the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme is now compulsory for all intending pilgrims. Registration costs ₦15,000 for individuals and ₦55,000 for families.
He said the initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensuring pilgrims have access to quality healthcare before departure, during the pilgrimage, and after returning to Nigeria.
Reaffirming the Board’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellent service delivery, Ajomagberin expressed confidence that with the support of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and the regulatory oversight of NAHCON, the 2027/1448 A.H. Hajj and Ramadan Umrah exercises would be among the most successful in recent years.
