Air Peace has warned passengers to expect delays and possible flight cancellations after one of its Airbus A320 aircraft was severely damaged in a ground handling incident at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA1), Lagos.
The airline said the incident happened on Tuesday night shortly after Flight P47427 arrived from Kano and passengers had safely disembarked. According to Air Peace, a baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) crashed into one of the aircraft’s engines, leaving the plane completely unserviceable.
Air Peace explained that the damaged aircraft had been scheduled to operate several domestic flights over the coming days, forcing the airline to adjust its operations through fleet redeployment. As a result, some flights are expected to be delayed, while others may be cancelled.
The airline apologised to affected passengers, assuring them that its operations and customer service teams are arranging alternative travel options where possible. It also said it is working with NAHCO and aviation authorities to investigate the incident and prevent a recurrence.
This marks the second time NAHCO equipment has been linked to damage involving an Air Peace aircraft, following a similar incident in December 2025.
