The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated a 28-seater coaster bus and 60 raincoats to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, to strengthen border security, improve migration management and enhance personnel welfare.

The donation, presented on Tuesday, July 14, is part of the Fund’s continued investment in security agencies responsible for safeguarding Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, where thousands of people arrive daily. The initiative is aimed at improving operational mobility and supporting efforts to tackle irregular migration.

Speaking during the presentation, LSSTF Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, praised the Immigration Service for its commitment to keeping Lagos safe through effective border control and migration management. He assured the Command of the Fund’s continued support, stating that agencies dedicated to protecting Lagos would always have a reliable partner in the LSSTF.

Ogunsan also credited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership for making the intervention possible and appreciated the Fund’s donors, Board of Trustees and Lagos residents for their continued contributions to strengthening security across the state. He further commended the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, for her leadership of the Service nationwide.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Comptroller General, the Comptroller of Immigration, Lagos State Command, Christopher Olu Onajinrin, described the donation as timely and strategic. He thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu, the Chief of Staff, Pastor Tayo Ayinde, the LSSTF and Dr. Ogunsan for the support, assuring Lagos residents that the resources would be effectively deployed to improve security.

Onajinrin disclosed that the Command had repatriated 128 irregular migrants from Cameroon, Chad and Burkina Faso within the last two weeks. He noted that the newly donated bus would reduce logistics costs, improve response time and strengthen the Command’s operations against irregular migration across Lagos State.

The donation reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s security architecture through the LSSTF by equipping agencies responsible for border security, lawful migration and crime prevention.
