The Oyo State Government has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft acquired to strengthen security operations and improve intelligence gathering across the state.
Announcing the development, the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, said the arrival of the aircraft fulfilled the government’s promise to receive them before the end of July 2026. He recalled that the acquisition was announced on July 8, 2026, as part of efforts to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies in addressing emerging security challenges.
Oyelade also noted that Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier disclosed on July 18 that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were being reassembled at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos before deployment to Oyo State.
According to the commissioner, the aircraft will support intelligence gathering and provide aerial surveillance for the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) and other security agencies in combating crime across the state.
The acquisition forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to deploy technology-driven solutions to enhance security and protect lives and property in Oyo State.
