The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied reports alleging that a faction of the party has merged with the “Rainbow Coalition,” a political group linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, described the reports as false and misleading, insisting that the ADC remains united under the leadership of its National Executive Committee (NEC) headed by former Senate President David Mark.
The party said there are no factions within its ranks and disowned individuals negotiating political alliances in its name, stressing that they are neither recognised executives nor authorised spokespersons. It also dismissed references to an alleged “Ibe Kachikwu faction” as baseless and criticised media organisations for failing to verify the claims. The ADC further called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate those allegedly impersonating party officials.
In a related development, Nyesom Wike confirmed that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has returned to his political camp after months of political disagreement.
Speaking in Abuja during the inspection of ongoing road projects, Wike dismissed suggestions of lingering hostility, saying “politics has no sin.” He described Fubara’s return as a positive step for political stability in Rivers State and expressed confidence that their renewed alliance would strengthen governance and boost support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
