Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old suspected armed robber, identified as Olajunja Segun Samson, during a routine patrol in the Igando area of Lagos.
According to the police, the suspect was apprehended after officers intercepted a motorcycle carrying three men whose movements aroused suspicion. On sighting the patrol team, the occupants reportedly attempted to flee.
While two of the suspects escaped, police officers successfully arrested Samson and recovered the abandoned motorcycle.
A search conducted on the suspect and the motorcycle led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms believed to be connected to the suspects.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue. Efforts are also underway to track down the fleeing accomplices.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai commended the officers involved for their vigilance and professionalism.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crime across the state and urged residents to support law enforcement by providing timely and credible information that can help prevent crime and apprehend suspects.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities through its emergency lines to enable swift police response.
