The General Manager of the Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority (LASISMA), TPL Daisi Oso, on Wednesday, 5th August, 2026, led the management team of the Agency on a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Honourable AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, at the Agege Local Government Council’s Secretariat.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between LASISMA and the Local Government in the effective management of Informal Urban Spaces and the enforcement of physical planning regulations as it pertains to Informal Urban Space (IUS) and Incidental Open Space (IOS) within the council area.

Speaking during the meeting, TPL Daisi Oso stated that the visit was to intimate the Executive Chairman with the statutory mandate of LASISMA and Setbacks, Common Areas, Roadsides Administration, Monitoring Project (SCRAMP), which is to regulate, manage and coordinate Informal Urban and Incidental Open Spaces across Lagos State in a manner that promotes physical orderliness, environmental aesthetics, public safety and revenue optimisation for both the State and the Local Governments.

According to TPL Daisi Oso, the visit served a two-fold purpose. Firstly, it afforded the Agency the opportunity to formally introduce LASISMA to the Executive Chairman, the Executive Council Members and the management of Agege Local Government, while providing detailed information on the Agency’s mandate, functions and operational framework as enshrined in the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Physical Development Law – 2019 as amended.

Secondly in his presentation, he noted that the engagement was to identify areas of collaboration between LASISMA and the Local Government, particularly in the management of Informal Urban Spaces, protection of public setbacks, prevention of encroachment on public infrastructure right-of-way and promotion of compliance with physical planning regulations.

TPL Oso emphasized that a strong partnership between LASISMA and Local Government Councils remains strategic to enhancement of the Council’s Urban face, by achieving orderly urban development, protecting public assets right-of-way while promoting sustainable management of Informal Spaces across Lagos State.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Honourable AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, commended the initiative and expressed his readiness to collaborate with LASISMA in promoting environmental physical orderliness and ensuring that public spaces within the Local Government are properly managed in accordance with extant laws.

He assured the Agency of the Council’s support in stakeholders’ engagement, public sensitisation and other initiatives that will encourage compliance with physical planning regulations while fostering a cleaner, safer and more organised Agege.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by both parties to work together in advancing the vision of this Administration on T.H.E.M.E.S + Agenda for a well-planned, orderly and sustainable urban environment.

The high point of the visit was marked by presentation of gift by the General Manager, TPL Daisi Oso to the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Council, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa as a symbol of understanding and cooperation of both parties together for a sustainable urban development in Lagos State.

Hon. Vinod Obasa also led the combination of both teams to an ongoing project that has to do with the cordoning and improvement of high-tension corridor for the purpose of mitigating the safety challenges of the infrastructure on Akilo Road, in Agege.

Present at the meeting were all Council members, namely Vice Chairman, Hon. Sodiq Adewale Azeez; Leader of the House, Hon. Haruna Adeshina; Secretary to Local Government, Hon. Aderanijo Rasheed; Chief of Staff, Hon. Ismael Garba Ismael; Council Manager/Head of Administration, Hon. Osikoya Adesina Sogo; Council Treasury, Hon. Jimon-Balogun Ademolo; Supervisor, Hon. Gbolahan Owolabi-Dada, Council Engineer and other members.

In attendance on the part of LASISMA were Directors, Heads of Units and other stakeholders.
