Flight operations of Air Peace were disrupted on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, following industrial action by aviation labour unions at the airline’s terminals in Lagos and Abuja.
The unions picketed Air Peace facilities and barricaded access to its departure terminals at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The development disrupted scheduled flights and left several passengers stranded, causing outbursts across several social media platforms as they express their displeasure.
The unions are protesting against alleged anti union practices by airlines, including claims that workers are prevented from freely joining unions of their choice. They are also demanding the remittance of the mandatory five per cent Ticket Sales Charge (TSC) collected by airlines for aviation agencies.
Air Peace confirmed that its operations had been temporarily disrupted by the industrial action and apologised to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has appealed to the aviation unions and airline operators to embrace dialogue and resolve the issues surrounding the dispute. The NCAA also assured the travelling public that flight safety had not been compromised, while efforts continue to restore normal flight operations.
