Officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission on Monday welcomed a delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a pre-event inspection ahead of the 2026 CAF Awards.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the delegation was taken on a tour of the proposed venue as CAF officials assessed the facilities and provided feedback to ensure they meet the required standards.
He noted that preparations are ongoing, with attention being given to every detail needed to successfully host the prestigious event, adding that staging an event of this scale requires careful planning and coordination.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in Lagos’ readiness, reaffirming the state’s commitment to delivering a memorable and well-organised ceremony for African football stakeholders.
The CAF Awards is one of Africa’s biggest football events, recognising outstanding players, coaches and teams each year. Hosting the 2026 edition is expected to further strengthen Lagos’ position as a leading destination for major sporting events on the continent.
