A Nigerian lawyer, Zaenab Olawunmi Adams, has launched a petition against MTN Nigeria over unexplained depletion of data from her account.
Her complaint followed the alleged consumption of 708.55GB out of an 800GB annual data plan she purchased for ₦125,000. She said the data was depleted within about 104 days, despite her claim that she was not a heavy data user.
The lawyer has demanded greater transparency from the telecommunications company, requesting a detailed breakdown showing when the data was consumed, the volume deducted and the services or applications responsible for the usage.
She has also called on other MTN subscribers who have experienced similar unexplained data deduction to share their experiences and evidence as part of the petition drive.
MTN responded to the complaint by providing a data usage report. However, she maintained that the report did not adequately explain the alleged data consumption.
The development has brought about discussions among other subscribers, all rooting for accountability and transparency regarding the unexplainable data depletion.
