The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, has criticised content creator Solomon Buchi over his recent comments about Lagos.
Buchi had advised foreign tourists, particularly Caucasians and Chinese, to explore other Nigerian cities instead of Lagos, arguing that the city’s nightlife and fast-paced lifestyle do not represent Nigeria’s culture in its truest form.
Reacting in a post on X on Friday, Akosile accused Buchi of displaying bitterness towards Lagos rather than promoting other parts of Nigeria.
“Dear Solomon, you could have done a better job of marketing other parts of Nigeria without displaying your bitterness to Lagos,” Akosile said.
He also defended Lagos nightlife, saying activities such as clubbing and BBL are among the attractions that make the city appealing to visitors.
Akosile maintained that Lagos would continue to grow despite criticism, describing it as “a city where dreams are realised.”
Buchi had recommended cities including Uyo, Abuja, Ibadan, Calabar, Jos, Taraba, Kano, Yola and Bauchi as alternative destinations for tourists.
The exchange has since sparked reactions online, with Nigerians weighing in on Lagos’ culture, nightlife and tourism appeal.
