The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has intensified its public awareness campaign ahead of the commencement of parking enforcement, with its roadshow scheduled to move to Ikorodu on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Speaking at a press briefing, LASPA General Manager, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, said the expanded advocacy campaign is aimed at ensuring businesses, vehicle owners and other stakeholders understand their parking obligations before enforcement begins.

Adelabu explained that the enforcement exercise, which was initially expected to commence earlier, has been moved to the end of September to allow for wider public sensitisation and engagement.

She stressed that voluntary compliance remains LASPA’s preferred approach, noting that demand notices are issued and queries addressed before enforcement is carried out. She urged businesses and corporate organisations to pay their parking dues through LASPA’s official channels and warned motorists and businesses against making cash payments to unauthorised collectors.

According to her, enforcement measures may include vehicle clamping and towing and, where necessary, the closure of defaulting businesses through due legal process.

“We always try our best to ensure that enforcement really is the last option,” she said.

The LASPA boss added that the Authority has increased its engagement with the media and other stakeholders this year to ensure that information on parking obligations reaches a wider audience.

She disclosed that corporate parking payments are made annually, while companies operating multiple branches can obtain consolidated bills. LASPA is also deploying technology, including a proposed mobile application and a USSD verification system, to enable motorists to locate parking spaces, verify authorised parking attendants and make cashless payments.

Adelabu further disclosed that LASPA would collaborate with the police during enforcement operations, while its personnel would be equipped with body cameras to document activities and promote safety and accountability.

She explained that LASPA was established to provide a structured and accountable parking management system across Lagos State, noting that the Authority has identified more than 3,400 parking setbacks across the state.

According to her, effective parking management forms an important part of Lagos State’s broader transport planning and complements alternative transportation systems, including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), LagRide, and the Blue and Red rail lines.

LASPA therefore urged businesses, motorists and residents, particularly those in Ikorodu, to participate in the September 23 roadshow, familiarise themselves with applicable parking regulations and settle their parking obligations before enforcement begins.
