The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Michael Falade, has presented insurance benefit cheques totalling ₦9.797 million to the families and beneficiaries of police officers who died in the line of duty.

Falade made the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

Speaking during the presentation, the commissioner said the payment reflected the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and the families of officers who die while serving the country.

According to him, the gesture was a practical demonstration of the Force’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by its fallen personnel.

“While no amount of money can replace a loved one, this benefit provides meaningful support to the families left behind,” Falade said.

He assured the beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to support the families of officers who paid the supreme price.

“The Nigeria Police Force remembers its own and will not abandon the families of officers who paid the supreme price,” he added.

Falade urged the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently, particularly towards the education and welfare of the children of the deceased officers.

The Ekiti CP commended the IGP, the Force Management Team, insurance stakeholders and the Force Insurance Unit for their efforts in processing and settling the legitimate claims.

He further assured serving police personnel that the welfare of officers and their families remained a priority of the Force.

Falade also extended his condolences to the bereaved families, praying for strength for them and eternal rest for the deceased officers.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Mathew Emmanuel expressed appreciation to the IGP and the Nigeria Police Force for the financial assistance and continued support to the families of the fallen officers.

Emmanuel assured the Force that the funds would be judiciously utilised for the welfare and benefit of the affected families.
