The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) has nominated the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) for its Most Outstanding Security Trust Agency in Nigeria 2026 Award, in recognition of its contributions to strengthening security in Lagos State.
The nomination recognises the Fund’s efforts under the leadership of its Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, in providing operational equipment, logistics and other essential support to law enforcement agencies.
Established in September 2007 by the Lagos State House of Assembly, the LSSTF operates a public-private partnership model that mobilises voluntary contributions from government and private-sector stakeholders to address security challenges and improve the capacity of security agencies.
CICAN noted that the Fund’s interventions have helped strengthen security operations, protect lives and property, and create a safer environment for businesses, investors and residents. It also commended the Fund’s approach to collaboration between the public and private sectors in financing security operations.
According to the association, effective security is essential to economic growth, investor confidence, business continuity and job creation, particularly in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial and industrial hub.
The nomination was conveyed in a letter dated August 23, 2026, addressed to Dr. Ogunsan and signed by CICAN National Chairman, Taiwo Ademola Hassan, and Secretary-General, Olufemi Orioye.
CICAN also acknowledged Dr. Ogunsan’s leadership in advancing the Fund’s mandate, mobilising resources and strengthening partnerships with security agencies and other stakeholders to improve public safety across the state.
The award is scheduled to be presented to Dr. Ogunsan on behalf of the LSSTF at CICAN’s 2026 National Annual Workshop on Thursday, November 19, at Protea Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The workshop is expected to bring together stakeholders from commerce, industry, finance, banking, investment and other sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The association expressed confidence that the recognition would encourage the Fund’s management and staff to sustain their efforts towards strengthening security institutions and promoting a safer environment for economic activities in Lagos and Nigeria.
