The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the approved campaign timetable for Nigeria’s 2027 General Elections, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.
According to the timetable, campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on August 19, 2026, and end on January 15, 2027. The elections are scheduled to hold on January 16, 2027.
For the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, campaigns will begin on September 9, 2026, and close on February 5, 2027, with the elections slated for February 6, 2027.
The Electoral Act requires campaigns to commence no earlier than 150 days before an election and to end at least 24 hours before polling begins. Political parties, candidates and their supporters are expected to adhere strictly to the approved timetable, to avoid sanctions.
INEC urged political parties and other stakeholders to respect the timetable and contribute to a credible electoral process.
