About 28 casino and gambling related pages have reportedly been discovered on the official website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), sparking concerns over the security and management of the commission’s digital platform.
The pages, reportedly hosted on INEC’s domain, include content promoting online casino services, with one page titled “Discover the Excitement of Instant Casino France.”
The development comes months after Lere Olayinka, an aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, was reported to have gained access to a restricted INEC portal and obtained voter information.
The latest discovery has renewed questions about possible unauthorised access to INEC’s website, particularly as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
INEC has not publicly clarified how the gambling related content was uploaded to its website or whether investigations have been launched into the matter.
