The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has received the 2026 MANCAP Quality Award from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for supporting its initiatives and advancing quality assurance through consumer protection education and public enlightenment. The award was presented to the Agency on Wednesday, October 21, at the Grandeur Event Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, during the ceremony marking both the MANCAP Quality Awards and the programme’s 20th anniversary.

Speaking at the event, LASCOPA’s General Manager/CEO, Afolabi Solebo, Esq., commended SON for its work in standardisation and quality assurance. He emphasised that product quality is a fundamental consumer protection issue and noted that effective collaboration between SON and LASCOPA is critical to ensuring consumers have access to safe, reliable products. He also called for stronger cooperation among regulatory agencies to tackle substandard and counterfeit goods.

Solebo dedicated the award to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, expressing appreciation for his continued support. He reaffirmed LASCOPA’s resolve to intensify efforts to protect consumers and promote transparency in the marketplace.
The recognition highlights the vital role of partnership between regulatory bodies in safeguarding consumer interests. LASCOPA remains fully committed to working with SON and all stakeholders to curb unfair business practices and build a safer, fairer marketplace for Lagos residents.
