Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has revealed that he temporarily quit acting in 2019 due to poor pay, uninspiring projects, and a lack of fulfilment.
Speaking on the CreativiTea podcast, Okanlawon said he became frustrated after realizing the reality of the industry fell short of his expectations. Having left a corporate career to pursue acting, he expected the profession to be more rewarding but was disappointed by the quality of work and financial returns.
According to the actor, the situation made it difficult to stay motivated, prompting him to leave the film industry and return to a 9-to-5 job.
Okanlawon has since made a successful comeback and is now regarded as one of Nollywood’s leading actors in both film and television
