Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reversed its earlier decision to sell petrol in dollars, announcing that it has resumed gantry loading for local marketers in naira.
The refinery also unveiled a new ex-depot price of ₦1,215 per litre, representing a ₦140 increase from the previous price of ₦1,075 per litre.
The latest development comes after the refinery had introduced a dollar-denominated pricing system, fixing the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at $0.779 per litre and ending the naira pricing model adopted under the Federal Government’s naira-for-crude policy. At the time, benchmark prices for diesel and aviation fuel were also revised as part of a broader commercial strategy.
With the decision now reversed, Dangote Refinery has returned to selling petrol to local marketers in naira, a move expected to influence pricing across Nigeria’s deregulated downstream petroleum sector, where the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility remains the country’s largest supplier of refined petroleum products.
