The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of a syndicate allegedly involved in the trafficking of human parts and recovered suspected human remains and charms from their hideouts.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday in Ibadan.

According to Ayanlade, the arrests followed months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by operatives of the Command’s monitoring unit.

He said the suspects were apprehended at different hideouts in Iseyin and Saki areas of the state.

Following the arrests, police operatives searched the locations and recovered several items suspected to be human parts.

The recovered exhibits included a suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms.

Ayanlade said the exhibits had been secured for forensic examination as investigations continue into the case.

He added that the suspects were assisting investigators in determining the source of the recovered items, how they were obtained and their intended use.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly linked to the suspected syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the operatives for what he described as a painstaking intelligence-led operation and their professionalism.

The Commissioner, according to Ayanlade, assured residents that the Command remained committed to tackling criminal activities across the state and protecting human lives.

He urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and apprehending suspected criminals.
