The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, the winner of the 2026 governorship election held on Saturday, August 15.
Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,811 votes. The result gives Adeleke a margin of about 66,000 votes.
The governor won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while the APC candidate won in 11. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.
The declaration was made by at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo in the early hours of Sunday, by Joshua Oluwole.
The victory secures Adeleke another term as governor of Osun State following his first election victory in 2022.
