Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, as his preferred successor to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike made the declaration at a reception held in his honour by the Ogbakor Ikwerre socio-cultural organisation at Obiri-Ehie, Rivers State.
During the event, the former Rivers governor presented Chinda to the gathering as the candidate he expects to succeed Fubara after the 2027 governorship election. Chinda, a member of the House of Representatives and former Minority Leader, has maintained a close political relationship with Wike.
The endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with various groups positioning themselves for the Rivers governorship contest.
