The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to establishing a sustainable, technology-driven and well-coordinated parking management system across the state to improve service delivery.
The General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, made this known during a recent interview, where she highlighted the importance of stakeholder collaboration, public compliance and private sector participation in achieving the authority’s objectives.
Adelabu explained that technology and innovation remain central to LASPA’s approach to modern parking management. She stressed that effective implementation requires accurate data, reliable systems and proper integration among relevant government agencies.
She disclosed that the authority is putting measures in place to improve parking management and service delivery. These include introducing verifiable QR-coded uniforms and identification cards for authorised parking agents and marshals, alongside appropriate technological solutions to help motorists identify legitimate personnel.
The LASPA boss also called on private sector investors to partner with the government, noting that public resources alone may not be sufficient to meet the growing demand for infrastructure and effective service delivery.
According to her, sectors such as healthcare, education, childcare and transportation require significant investment, making private sector participation essential to expanding parking infrastructure and improving services.
While acknowledging that on-street parking activities are already taking place in some parts of Lagos, Adelabu clarified that the initiative has not yet been fully implemented across its intended areas.
She attributed the delay to the need for stronger collaboration with private sector partners and adequate training before the initiative can be fully rolled out.
Adelabu further revealed that under the planned on-street parking arrangement, one out of every ten parking spaces would be reserved for persons living with disabilities to ensure accessibility and inclusiveness.
The authority urged motorists, businesses, investors and members of the public to support its efforts to develop an organised, accessible and sustainable parking management system that will improve mobility, promote efficient use of urban spaces and make Lagos a more liveable city.
