Arsenal began their Premier League title defence with a 3-0 victory over Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium on Friday, August 21st.
Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 15th minute, guiding a cross from Riccardo Calafiori into the bottom corner to give the champions an early advantage.
Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead eight minutes later.
Captain Martin Odegaard completed the scoring four minutes into the second half, ending Coventry’s hopes of a comeback.
Arsenal dominated possession and created several further chances, while Coventry struggled to contain the defending champions. The visitors, however, came close to scoring a consolation goal late in the match when Jack Rudoni headed straight at goalkeeper David Raya.
This victory gives Arsenal an impressive start to their title defence, while Coventry, returning to the Premier League after a 25 year absence, will look to recover in their next fixture.
