Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has been named among Nigeria’s top 10 universities for promoting transparent, merit-based, and inclusive admissions, earning a prestigious award from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The university was the only state-owned institution honoured at the award ceremony held on July 1, 2026, at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Auditorium in Abuja. JAMB commended AAUA for its transparent admission process, commitment to equal opportunities, and prompt handling of admission applications.
The award was presented by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, and Chairman of the Equal Opportunity Group, Prof. Peter Okebukola. Receiving the honour on behalf of the university, Chairman of AAUA’s Admission Committee, Prof. Adebisi Olonisakin, described the recognition as a testament to the institution’s culture of fairness, transparency, and integrity, while pledging that AAUA would continue to uphold the standards that earned the national recognition.
